Its trips like this that make me love my job as a flight attendant. Here is my Instagram photo diary of my recent weekend in Dubai!
I arrived in Dubai after a very busy 14 1/2 hour flight from Australia. I must have slept 3 hours before I got up for breakfast in the georgeous hotel cafe. Two coffees later and I was ready to take on the day ahead.I wore a patterned maxi dress and bright blue scarf for modesty and headed straight to old dubai to wander through the spice and gold souks.
I had to catch one of these little boats to get there which was lots of fun and only cost 1 dirham (which is equal to 25cents)
I bought some hot chilli flakes for hubby and a little camel souvenir. You must bargain! The first price for a bag of spices they gave me was 250 dirham, which is about $60! I ended up paying 10 dirham!!
My favorite moment was stumbling into a little perfume shop. I ended up buying some arabic perfume oil and jasmine oil. You could buy almost any perfume you like suspended in an oil and if you like, have it poured into a decorative glass bottle.
After visiting the souks I jumped in a four wheel drive and headed out on a desert safari. We went four wheel driving over the dunes and it was so much fun. It was a little scary but I couldn’t stop laughing!
After the dune bashing we ended up in an exotic boudouin style camp complete with camel rides, dancers, henna tattoos, shisha, a massive BBQ feast, a bar and lots of souveniers for purchase too. It was a lot of fun and I joined in all the activities except for falcon holding. It look so wild with its enormous flapping wings I decided to pass.
