Ernest Palm Springs

Surprise! You can actually find a proper coffee in Palm Springs, Ernest Coffee Co. Although it was not consistent every day I was there, it beats out the other options. And when this Aussie girl ordered a Flat White they knew what I was talking about…unlike the majority of American cafes I visited. Perfectly situated in the heart of Palm Springs uptown design district, the decor is suitably modern and carries a hipster vibe. It means you can get your caffeine fix while people watching and then…shopping. Perfect.

Create a neo-grunge look with ghd

Create a neo-grunge look with ghd

I like my style grungy and a little unkempt but there is messy and there is messy. My hair is naturally a thick, frizzy blonde fluff ball so I use my ghd straightener to smooth it down every single day and quickly create a natural looking look that is smooth, shiny and tangle free 🙂

Help, fix my frizz!
Help, fix my frizz!

When asked if I would like to write on behalf of ghd  I was more than happy to oblige as I am an avid fan of my ghd. Then to my delight a brand new limited edition ghd wonderstyler gift landed in my lap! Yipee!! So on that note, I said goodbye to my 5 year old ghd Gold Classic styler – that is still in perfect working order – and hello to my new best friend.

The ghd wonderstyler is all I need when it comes to styling. It straightens, curls and helps perfect the most tricky of up-dos. When I first tried a ghd many years ago, I was most surprised at how smooth and soft my hair remained. The ghd wonderstyler’s smooth ceramic plates don’t damage your hair like other styling tools. It truly is like magic and I swear by it.

To smooth down your fuzz and create a sexy, nonchalant style (look as carefree as you feel) you will need your ghd, hairdyer, a couple of sectioning clips, paddle brush, comb & your favorite styling product.

The tools…
The tools…

1.  Blowdry your hair until it is completely dry. I always run my paddle brush through as I dry to speed up the styling process. Section the top with your sectioning clips and switch on the ghd ensuring it remains on the heat resistant mat.

2. Taking one small section at a time, start a 1/4 of the way down and run your ghd straight to the ends.  A tip I picked up at a recent ghd master class was to not clamp down to hard,  the ghd will create style and definition without you needing too 🙂

smooth and shiny 🙂

3. Next, part your hair at the crown, separating the front from the back and then blowdry the front section downwards to create texture and movement around the face. My husband likes to make casual mention of my likeness to Chewbacca as I am doing this.

4. Now use the wonderstyler to create  a couple of bends in the front section. You don’t want to create full curls here, just a couple of bends inwards and outwards to create natural movement. This is easy to do by yourself, just follow my instructions…

Take small sections…

Clasp the straightener over the hair

flip the straightener over to allow the smooth curved edges create a gentle wave

Easy!
Easy!

You too can create a nice natural texture with ghd that hints at irreverence and nonchalance but that is soft, shiny and a joy to run your fingers through.

Thankyou ghd. You have made my life so much easier 🙂

Date night outfit

I am sure it has been a busy few weeks for everyone. The kids are all in town on holidays, pressies need to be bought and wrapped, families to entertain and we all still have to work! So when Anniversaries, Valentines day or date night comes around we all hope we get spoiled a little.

When I know date night is coming up I get so excited & plan everything; what I am going to wear etc etc. I am sure most women are the same. We secretly can’t wait…”dinner and a movie…woot woot… I can wear those heels that I bought ….”. So guys … if you are reading this; know that your girl / wife is secretly hoping you would also make a big deal about movie night too. So put on something nice, make her feel extra loved & have fresh flowers sent to her door & If you can have them delivered before you pick her up for your date, even better! Your point score will go through the roof!

On recieving this beautiful arrangement of massive red roses from http://www.freshflowers.com.au my heart skipped a beat!

I decided to take my style cue from the roses and upped the ante with a little black dress and some red lippy. The dress I am proud to say was thrifted. It is very short however the high neckline balances it out and the subtle mesh waist hints at the current sexy cropped trend without being too innapropriate, perfect for a first date when you want to keep it subtle. Guys always say they don’t like too much makeup so keep it simple & just play up the one feature. I pulled my hair to the side to expose my neck & styled the dress with some vintage earrings and red lippy. At the moment I am loving a Laura Mercier lippy. It doesn’t end up all over my face & keeps its colour for ages 🙂

If you have a special occasion or need a last minute flower arrangement consider www.FreshFlowers.com.au for Valentines day flowers.

If you need them now or you have a sudden occasion that has just sprung up; they will hand make and hand deliver in Australia the SAME day if you order by 1pm! Cool huh? They also offer a reminder service so you can book in advance, which is a good idea for Valentines day & Anniversaries. I have to admit these roses are some of the most beautiful, quality roses I have ever recieved so I am going to take some more photos with them 🙂

What is your favourite flower? Im a classic girl…I love roses.
